Legal AI startup Legora has raised $550m in a Series E funding round, valuing the business at $8.8bn as it looks to accelerate its expansion across North America and other international markets.
Led by Atreides Management, the funding round includes participation from new investors Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan, alongside existing investors. The investment comes as law firms and in-house legal teams increasingly adopt artificial intelligence to support research, document review and other legal workflows.
Founded in 2023, Legora develops AI tools designed to help legal professionals automate and manage complex tasks. The company has seen significant growth over the past year, with annual recurring revenue (ARR) now exceeding $200m, up from $100m reported earlier this year.
The latest funding round values the business at $8.8bn, compared with $5.6bn following its previous financing round. In March, Legora raised $550m at a valuation of $5.55bn, before announcing a further $50m extension to its Series D round in April.
The new investment will support continued expansion across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, alongside further development of its agentic AI capabilities. These technologies are designed to carry out multi-step tasks on behalf of users, allowing legal professionals to manage more complex workflows through AI-powered systems.
The United States has become Legora’s largest market by revenue, following the opening of its first US office in New York in March 2025. The company has since expanded its presence with additional offices in Denver, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco, as it continues to build relationships with law firms and corporate legal departments.
Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder of Legora, said: “AI is changing the role of the lawyer, with more time for judgment and advice, and it is reshaping how law firms and in-house legal teams are organized and how their work gets done.”
The funding comes amid growing investor interest in legal technology, as businesses look to apply AI to professional services and improve the efficiency of established workflows. Legora’s largest competitor, Harvey, raised $550m in September at a valuation of $15.5bn, highlighting the scale of investment being directed towards the sector.
Both businesses are developing AI platforms for legal professionals, with investors backing products intended to reduce the time spent on research, document analysis and other routine activities. Law firms are also investing in their own AI capabilities, creating an increasingly competitive market for technology providers.
Legora’s latest round will also support development of its agentic operating system, which is designed to help lawyers and AI agents work together across legal tasks. The company is continuing to expand its product offering as demand grows from both private practice firms and in-house legal teams.
With more than $200m in ARR and a valuation of $8.8bn, Legora enters its next phase of growth with additional capital to develop its technology and strengthen its international presence. The company will look to build on its existing customer base as legal professionals continue to assess how AI can be integrated into their work.
