Runable has raised $21 million in Series A funding with an ambitious pitch: AI shouldn’t just help small businesses build software. It should help them actually run and grow the business.
The Bengaluru-based startup, founded in 2025 by Umesh Kumar and Saksham Sarda, says its platform is evolving from an AI-powered builder into something closer to an autonomous business operator. The funding round was co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, with existing investors Together Fund and Array VC also participating.
Runable’s bold move is based on the fact that the market for AI that can build things is getting increasingly crowded. Tools such as Cursor, Lovable and Replit have made it much easier for non-engineers — and more productive for engineers — to turn natural-language instructions into working software.
Runable is betting that “building the thing” will soon be the easy part. The company believes that founders want a business that keeps running even when they’re hands off. As Umesh Kumar puts it: “Building software stopped being the hard part. Nobody starts a business because they want a landing page. They start it because they want customers and revenue. Software creation got automated. Everything after it didn’t. That’s what Runable is for.”
Targeting small businesses specifically, Runable’s team of 15 people is looking beyond mere software creation. Their autonomous AI agent doesn’t just automate software creation, it builds, runs and grows the business.
Currently, the agent allows users to build websites and apps based on natural language prompts while also handling software deployment and analytics.
Following the funding, Runable will focus on expanding its growth capabilities, scaling the Runable Academy and hiring more team members. They also aim to develop the the Grow layer, which is intended to do for a business what an entire team would usually do. It can plan and manage ad campaigns across multiple platforms including Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok, with no prior knowledge needed by the end user.
Grow also handles brand management, as well as both cold and organic lead generation.
Runable currently has in the region of 1.7m users worldwide, mostly small agencies and consultancies with the largest markets being in the US, UK and Japan.
Jishnu Bhattacharjee of Nexus Venture Partners said: “Most AI tools stop at output. Businesses need outcomes: customers, revenue, cash in the bank. That’s what Runable’s general-purpose autonomous AI agent does: not just automate software creation but build, run, and grow a business. We are thrilled to back Umesh and Saksham in their journey of helping millions of users across the globe run their businesses.”
